14 DAY TRIAL // Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon have been living separately at least since May this year, as Nick himself confirmed last week. While he’s saying that divorce is not an option just yet, rumors online claim the contrary, saying that the only reason they’re still on talking terms is because they’re thinking of the best interest of their 2 kids together.
Well, at least they’re still talking, which means the split is not a bitter one, or at the very least, not that bitter as to make them forget about the twins, Moroccan and Monroe.
TMZ reports that, while a reconciliation is off the table for good, the two have been getting along much better now that they no longer have to pretend that everything is peachy, now that they no longer live under the same roof. Back then, they’d gotten to “loathe” each other, the celebrity e-zine says.
“They are not only on good terms – primarily for the sake of their kids – they even went to dinner Friday in Tribeca and shockingly no one even noticed. It's a big improvement from 6 months ago, when there was so much contempt they literally could not be in the same room together,” the report mentions.
What changed is that they decided to handle the separation in the most mature way so that the twins are the least impacted. “It's all about the kids. They're both committed to making the divorce as easy as possible on them. But – let's just say one side tells us – they will NEVER get back together,” the report further notes.
Mariah and Nick have not been photographed together in public in many months, but oddly, after Nick confirmed the separation, they have been spotted out and about a lot – just never together.
The Daily Mail, for instance, has new photos of Mariah taking the twins out for pizza in New York, accompanied by a very impressive entourage of bodyguards and nannies. When you’re Mariah, you just don’t go out for pizza without one.
This is the second time in as many days when she’s been photographed out, which is rare because, if Mariah wants to avoid attention from the paparazzi, she CAN avoid it. The British tab notes how she’s “putting on a brave face” and a smile amidst all those rumors about her admittedly defunct marriage to Nick, and indeed, she’s smiling in many shots.
This could be Mariah’s way of letting Nick know that she’s ok without him, no matter how badly the media spins the divorce for her. He, on the other hand, was caught by the paparazzi looking thinner and more exhausted, so perhaps there is some truth to those rumors saying he was the one who got dumped and now he’s heartbroken about it.
