14 DAY TRIAL // It’s hard to imagine Mariah Carey at the stove, cooking, because she has this “diva” reputation that she doesn’t want to destroy, but photos on her Instagram feed prove she’s actually a fan of cooking - and quite skilled at it, too.
For those who still can’t reconcile the image of Mimi with that of a good cook, here’s this new Funny Or Die skit that she agreed to do to promote her Las Vegas residency. The Vegas shows kicked off last night and reviews are very positive, both as far as her vocal performance and the scale and quality of show go.
Back to the cooking: here’s Mariah making something that she calls a Frito pie, which includes anything from Fritos to salad leaves, whipped cream (?), M&Ms (is that “did you ever think of writing a song about M&M / Eminem?” a diss at the rapper), champagne, some mysterious liquid, and movie director and good friend Brett Ratner as the official taster.
The skit isn’t even half as funny as other Funny Or Die videos, but the very fact that Mariah is willing to poke fun even for a bit at her diva image is a welcome change of pace. I particularly loved it when she advises her co-host on how to make hair look good without touching it and she says the biggest diamond ring possible is a necessary ingredient for a good recipe.
