Say whatever you want, nobody in the showbiz game could possibly have imagined three months ago that America's uber-spoiled sweetheart Mariah Carey was going to get caught in a whirlwind romance and get married so fast - least of all, to a not-very-famous actor ten years her junior, after a courtship that lasted for little over a month. However, life is often more surprising than even the most carefully-scripted romantic comedies and here we all are, still in shock, still wondering at the intricate workings of fate that allowed Mariah and Nick to meet, fall in love and tie the knot so quickly.

Nobody can say that Mariah, the ultimate diva, the rich and spoiled singer who made music history and scored more number-one singles on the Hot 100 charts than Elvis Presley, is not the ultimate romantic. Of course, the diva herself admitted that her new husband and her are "perpetual 12 year-old" soul mates at heart, which explains why romanticism for Mariah and Nick includes exchanging vows at sunset, eating pink-glazed cupcakes and planning to decorate their nursery in butterfly-patterned designs. However, the connection between the two newlyweds is a lot stronger than we may originally believe - so they say, and so their friends confirm.

"Whatever makes them happy. They have a lot in common and should have a lot of fun together", music mogul Russell Simmons stated for People magazine shortly after Mariah's wedding was confirmed. Although shocked, most of Mariah's friends confirmed that the singer is happy with her young husband. As for their fateful first meeting in late March this year, it was all down to fate and a bit of luck. "Nick was cast as the romantic lead [in Mariah's video for "Bye Bye"] and was flown to Antigua where they met so basically their [romance] started during the shoot", an insider revealed to People. "She's very into religion and Nick is very into religion. That's something they bonded on", the source added. They instantly fell for one another, and the rest, as we very well know it, is history.

Mariah wed Nick Cannon on the 30th of April at sunset, on her own private estate in the Bahamas, and served lobster and Dom Perignon champagne for the wedding reception. She and Cannon further celebrated their union in the States by renting out the whole Flags Magic Mountain adventure park in Valencia, CA, where they rode roller coasters together, ate cupcakes adorned with butterflies and gave their guests pink and blue superman capes as souvenirs. Which, say what you want, is rather sweet and in tone with their personalities. As a result, Mariah and Nick and now Mr. and Mrs. Cannon - fingers crossed for them, and stay tuned for more news and updates on their fairytale romance.
