The USB Implementers Forum, like any organization focused on advancing its technological portfolio, will be present at the 2010 International CES, and it seems that 20 member companies will have something to show.

The greatest advancement that the USB Implementer Forum (USB-IF) pulled off was the invention of the USB 3.0 Super Speed standard.

With a theoretical maximum transfer rate of 5 Gbps, the connection is actually ten times faster than USB 2.0.

The adoption of this new technology has been rather slow, mostly because chipset and motherboard makers have only now seriously begun to incorporate USB 3.0 ports.

Still, CES 2011 is set to host the demonstrations of a great many new products, many with support for this and other next-generation technologies.

To set the stage and raise consumer anticipation, USB-IF has now issued a press release in which it states that the Consumer Electronics Show will be packed with USB 3.0 demonstrations.

According to the official announcement, 20 member companies will have at least one USB 3.0 device on show.

For instance, there will be a demo of real-time capturing of Full HD (1,080p) video at 60 frames per second.

The setup will utilize a Blackmagic Design Intensity Shuttle and a laptop constructed by ASUS, whose motherboard will boast a Fresco Logic FL1000 host controller.

Said controller will provide the USB 3.0 support and the captured content will be written, in real time, on a LaCie 2big USB 3.0 storage drive.

CES 2011 will kick off on January 6 and will finish on January 9, so visitors will have three days to feast their eyes on the demo and any other SuperSpeed device that might be on show at the USB TechZone.

Interestingly enough, even prior to that period, another demo will be held, at CES Unveiled, on January 4.
