A man has posted on Facebook just a few hours after losing his son in a shooting accident. Brian Holbrook took to Facebook to express his sorrow and continue to advocate gun ownership.

Daily Mail conveys the message posted by Holbrook after his three-year-old accidentally shot himself with a gun found in his home.

“Yesterday I lost my 3yrd son to a gun accident,” Holbrook writes on his page.

“I have nothing wrong with guns, I will still support the Second Amendment,” he also adds.

His son, Damon, shot himself in the head with a 40 caliber Smith and Wesson found in a closet. The incident took place at the family's residence in Dundee, Michigan.

The closet was not locked and the firearm was loaded, according to police reports. The gun also had one bullet in the chamber, as it had just been put away by its owner.

It belonged to 30-year-old Joshua Michael Greenhill, who was staying with the Holbrook. He had just returned from work, put the gun away and left the room. The child grabbed the weapon out of the closet within five minutes after it was laid there.

“We r all hoping to wake up from this nightmare. My baby boy is gone & I will never get to hold him again. I will miss him terribly.[sic]

“All I ask is that everyone please, please safety first... lock it up and put it out of reach of anyone that has no business being around a gun especially kids,” Holbrook says.

Greenhill had a permit, but he has been charged with careless discharge causing injury or death.

“Gun safety people! My boy would still be here if it was put away like it should have been. Thank you for all the prayers & well wishes,” Holbrook comments.
