Zack Snyder is rebooting the Superman franchise with “Man of Steel,” which is scheduled for theatrical release for June 2013. Ironically, the film is already included in the top 10 most disappointing movies of 2012 over at Yahoo!.

Because Snyder dared to do away with Superman’s iconic red undies (whose purpose is best explained here), Yahoo! won’t even wait for the film to come out to pass judgment.

“For the upcoming reboot, ‘Man of Steel,’ director Zack Snyder took off Superman's red briefs. That's right, the ‘300’ director changed the iconic uniform of the Last Son of Krypton, and he now looks as if he should be on a luge instead of fighting crime. What happened to tradition?” it asks.

As the photo above will confirm (click to enlarge), Yahoo! isn’t the only one wondering what happened to Superman’s once much ridiculed briefs.

However, from that to saying “Man of Steel” is a flop is a huge step, one that should probably be taken with caution. To paraphrase Yahoo!, “what happens to progress?” Perhaps his suit simply needed reinventing for today’s audiences.
