The man insists that, although built out of champagne bottles, his home is sturdy enough to last 100 years

The city of Chelyabinsk in Russia holds one of the greatest architectural wonders of the modern world: a perfectly cozy home built almost entirely out of champagne bottles.

The house, photos of which are available in the gallery below, is the work of a 52-year-old man named Hamidullah Ilchibaev, who spent several years putting it together.

In fact, the Russian man, who likes to think of himself as an architect, says that it took him about 3 years just to get the well over 12,000 champagne bottles he needed to complete the project.

Some of the empty bottles were given to him by folks working at restaurants scattered across Chelyabinsk. The majority, however, the 52-year-old man had to buy.

So, how did he do it?

Hamidullah Ilchibaev says that, having collected the over 12,000 champagne bottles that went into the making of this one-of-a-kind house, he got to work cutting their tops off.

He then stashed the bottoms one over the other and fixed them in place using a special solution. He even added insulating materials to his bottle-made walls, looking to make the house welcoming.

Apparently, the house looks just like any other dwelling on the inside. It is only its exterior walls that fail to resemble anything we are familiar with when it comes to constructions.

Contrary to what some might assume, the 52-year-old did not spend all that much money building the house. Instead, the odd dwelling cost him 5 times less than building a regular home would have.

Hamidullah Ilchibaev insists that, despite being made of champagne bottles, the house is just as sturdy as any of the run-of-the-mill ones. Thus, he claims it will last for at least 100 years.

Why did he do it?

Hamidullah Ilchibaev took an interest in using beer or vodka bottles to build all sorts of things when he was much younger. His kids told him that he should build a house, but at first, the man refused.

When one of his sons died at the age of 18, the man decided to honor his memory by devoting his time to putting champagne bottles together in the form of a home, Oddity Central informs.

Although it was he who worked years on the house, Hamidullah Ilchibaev does not live in it. Not wanting to let it go to waste, he offered it to his eldest son as a wedding present.
