A Chinese man suffered a serious parasitic infection that turned his skin green. If you want to avoid this happening to you, do not consume river snails in industrial quantities.

The Chinese Center for Disease Control has examined the case, and they report that the coloration is a result of an infection with parasitic flatworms which are carried in the livers.

He described eating plates full of snails on a daily basis in recent months.

"Usually I like to eat fried river snails, especially in the past few months, where I've been eating one plate every night," he says.

According to Asia One, his liver got infected and he started experiencing acute abdominal pain. Not only his skin, but also the white portion of his eyes changed its color to green.

An examination revealed that he had four parasites lodged in his common bile duct, each one 10mm (0.4 inch) long, 8mm wide (0.3 inch) and 2mm (0.1 inch) thick.
