David Jimenez prayed every day at the Church of St Patrick's in Newburgh, New York. Unfortunately, his dedication cost him his leg.

Jimenez's wife battled with cancer for years. As his wife recovered, 45-year-old Jimenez dubbed it a miracle and offered to clean the crucifix he had prayed to every day during his wife's illness.

As he was working on the large marble statue, it fell on his leg, which had to be amputated. He is now suing the church for $3 million (€2,3 milion), claiming the priest that allowed him to perform the work on the statue proved negligent.

The crucifix was only screwed in by one bolt, the pizza parlor employee claims. According to the Daily Mail, the figure has been moved from the Church of St Patrick's to a different parish.
