People have been known to run into a burning house before, but more often than not they did so to save a family member, maybe a most beloved pet.

Still, news from the United States says that, this past Friday, a man in Kansas risked his own life and stormed into a house that was pretty much engulfed by flames to rescue his Xbox console.

Information shared with the public says that the fire started while the man, whose named has not yet been released, was sleeping.

Luckily, the man woke up just in time to realize that he was in danger, and ran outside. Firefighters were called at the scene, and they proceeded to try to put out the fire.

As the firefighters were busy fighting the flames, the man recovered from the initial shock of having been woken up by a house fire, and came to realize that he had made one very big mistake when running out of the house.

This dreadful mistake was the fact that he forgot to bring his Xbox console, which one can only assume he held very dear, with him.

Much to the surprise of the firefighters and the paramedics who were also present at the scene, the man ran back inside the house, looking to save the Xbox from the encroaching flames.

He managed to grab hold of the console, and came back outside. Oddly enough, his bravado did not cost him any major injuries or severe burns. On the contrary, he only had to be treated for smoke inhalation.

The house, on the other hand, suffered damage amounting to $80,000 (€58,473.), Ubergizmo reports.

For the time being, it is unclear whether the Xbox console made it out of the fire alive and well, or if maybe it will need to undergo treatment to cope with the psychological trauma of being left behind and only be rescued as an afterthought.
