A man has recovered a high-school class ring he had lost 40 years ago through the help of Facebook.

Richard Hale attended O'Keefe High School in Atlanta which closed down in 1974, and always regretted never getting the chance to recover the heirloom.

"We were riding around with friends and for some reason, I tossed something out the window, and when I did, I thought, 'Oh no my ring is gone'," he recalls for My Fox Atlanta.

His former high-school sweetheart and current wife has also given him a hard time about losing the ring.

"My mother and daddy sacrificed to pay for it," Richard says.

Ellen Ramey, now a resident of Clayton, Georgia stumbled upon it at the time, and has thhought about returning it ever since.

After telling a friend of Hale's about finding a ring without knowing who the owner was, the two got connected through Facebook and were able to meet up.
