Imagine waking up one morning to find that, while you were sleeping, a massive spider kept busy covering your driveway in a freakishly big web. It all sounds like a horror story, right?

Well, I hate to break it to you, but stuff like this can happen. Just ask 74-year-old Russell Harding of Colerne, UK, if you don't believe me.

According to Mirror, it was not very long ago that this man found that, while he was minding his own business, a 1.5-inch (3.8-centimeter) spider kept itself entertained building a ginormous web across his drive.

The spider web, visible in the photo next to this article and the one below, measured an impressive 6 feet (1.8 meters) across. What's more, the spider was resting smack in its middle at the time the 74-year-old saw it for the first time.

Russell Harding says that, when he found it, the web was spanning from his shed to his car's wing mirror. To be able to leave the house and avoid being caught in it, the pensioner was forced to move it.

“I managed to detach it from my wing mirror and move it 90 degrees to a bin so it was still intact but we could leave our house,” the 74-year-old said in a statement.

“I have never seen a web that big before. My wife would have actually passed out if she had walked into the web. There would have been a lot of screaming,” he added.

The ginormous spider web disappeared about 3 days after Russell Harding came across it. Specialists believe that it was created by a garden spider. Apparently, such arachnids are a common sight in the UK during this time of the year.
