WonderHowTo posted this interesting video in which Jeff Benjamin, editor at the idownloadblog

, cuts and polishes his Micro SIM to get a Nano SIM out of it.

The Micro SIM card has been used in the iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S, and has now been replaced by Apple with the new, even smaller, Nano SIM, with the arrival of the iPhone 5.

The width of the new Nano is 12.3mm (0,48 inch), its height is 8.8mm (0,34 inch) and the card has a depth of 0.67mm (0,026 inch).

When dealing with minuscule items such as this, it is advised to perform measurements using a digital caliper, instead of a ruler. Measurements should be taken at every step of the process, to avoid over-cutting.

The man cuts the SIM card with scissors first, and proceeds to use sandpaper to obtain the proper depth and make tweaks.

This video was posted before the iPhone 5 was launched, and the Nano SIM that resulted from this experiment hasn't been tested on the actual phone yet.
