Sharing your own mugshot on Facebook is not the best idea to stay out of sight when you are a fugitive, but Anthony James Lescowitch couldn't resist the urge to taunt the police for not being able to catch him and managed to get himself arrested.

The 35-year-old man was wanted for an assault that happened in June 2013, but managed to avoid getting caught. When he saw that the Freeland Police Department posted a photo of him on Facebook, letting people know he was on the loose, he decided to lend a hand and share it on his profile.

The photo was posted Monday morning and was asking people for information on Lescowitch's whereabouts. Less than an hour later, the police department shared the same photo but this time with the caption “Captured!!!!! Shares our status on Facebook about himself, captured 45 minutes later.”

When officers noticed that the actual perpetrator shared his own mugshot online, they decided to use his stupidity and approach him, and what better way to do that than to use a fake Facebook profile of a very attractive woman, explains Times Leader.

Because of the female's irresistible looks, the authorities easily managed to engage in a conversation with the fugitive, who was more than willing to chat with the lady.

Pretending to be interested in the man, while trying to find out about his whereabouts, the fictive woman asked him out for a drink, despite talking for just half an hour. The suspect initially refused but then agreed to meet the female when she insisted on at least smoking a cigarette together.

At the time of the meeting, Lescowitch was surprised to encounter police officers instead of his new Facebook friend. He was arrested with no incidents and taken to the precinct.

Freeland police was looking for Lescowitch for an assault that happened back in the summer, but the man was also wanted by Luzerne County Probation, where he is currently located. The Correctional Facility set a $25,000 (€18,500) bail and a preliminary hearing for January 29.
