Mamiya Leaf is a Japan-based company known for manufacturing medium format digital cameras, and this week the company rolled out a new product pertaining to the category.

The new product is called the Credo 50 and takes advantage of the same Sony 50MP sensor used by well-known names in the industry like Phase One, Hasselblad and Pentax for their own medium format cameras.

In 2014, we have seen a lot of medium cameras arrive on the market, and the flux is about to intensify as we advance towards Photokina 2014 where both Nikon and Canon are expected to introduce such products.

Will the Credo 50 be able to take on Phase One, Hasselblad and Pentax?

Anyway, going back to today’s story, the Mamiya Leaf Credo 50 has arrived to take on the likes of Phase One IQ250, Hasselblad H5D-50c and Pentax 645z, but it remains to be seen whether this will be the case or not.

The new camera arrives in the wild boasting an ISO sensitivity range between 100 and 6400, and the producing company says this standard should allow users to snap photos in low-lighting conditions.

As we already told you above, Sony takes advantage of a 50MP sensor capable of delivering a 14 f-stop dynamic range. It works in concert with an image processor in order to allow it to capture up to 1.2fps at full resolution.

Now, remember that Credo 50 takes advantage of CMOS technology and comes with a better processor, so images in Live View are bound to look better, being devoid of noise and with improved refresh rate.

The Credo offers the services of a 3.2-inch 1.15-million-dot touchscreen to help you review and edit stuff more rapidly.

Mamiya Leaf also says the device is capable of taking one hour exposure and that the end results come out noiseless. Also important to note is that the fastest shutter speed stands at 1/10000 of a second.

Avid photographers will be glad to know that the camera supports the means so that you can quickly transfer all your work. The Credo 50 has USB 3.0 and FireWire 800 ports with the images being stored on an UDMA CompactFlash card.

When can we expect the new Credo 50?

Mamiya Leaf might have announced the camera today, but the released date has been scheduled for late September 2014.

Now for the disruptive part, the Credo 50 medium format camera will take you back with over $26,995 / for the digital version and $30,995 for the lens kit.
