The Malaysian airline is having trouble containing the attack

A hacker has hijacked the official Twitter account of Malindo Air (@Malindo_Air), a Malaysia-based hybrid airline.

“Dear All, our twitter account has been hacked. Please do not entertain the hacker. We will get to the bottom of this problem. Thank you,” Malindo Air representatives stated a few hours ago.

However, it appears they haven’t yet managed to regain control of the account, so the hacker keeps publishing his own messages.

In his last tweet, the attacker has notified the company’s Twitter followers that the airline is giving away 100,000 free seats from today until the end of the week.

Malindo Air has published another short statement on Facebook after several users started asking about the giveaway.

“Malindo Air has been following closely on the unauthorised postings on Malindo's Twitter Account and would like to advise our loyal followers to disregard them until further notice. The account has been hacked and Malindo is working on securing it. Thank you,” the airline noted on Facebook.
