One of the most talented and definitely surprising acts on this season of America’s Got Talent is Prince Poppycock who, after his performance of “Bohemian Rhapsody,” has earned for himself the dubbing of “the male Lady Gaga.”

Though vocally the two have very little in common, Prince (real name John Quale) does share with Gaga the same propensity for fancy dress and theatrical makeup and performances, as the judges also noted.

Prince, who says he’s been singing ever since he can remember, first impressed judges and audiences with his opera performances – but he went on a different route the other night, as People magazine can also confirm.

For the night that would win him a spot on the semi-finals, he chose a rendering of Queen’s classic hit “Bohemian Rhapsody” and truly made it his.

Prince Poppycock strolled on the stage decked in a blue outfit, surrounded by dancers and started smashing china around him as he delivered home the message: no one but him matters anymore.

The judges were clearly not blind (or deaf, more like it) to the singer’s message, which is why they gave him a standing ovation at the end. Unsurprisingly, audiences followed suit.

“Without a doubt, the outrageous performer was Tuesday night’s favorite of all three judges and the studio audience. His strong voice, outlandish costumes and sheer creativity made him the ‘superstar’ of the night, according to judge Piers Morgan,” People writes.

“He’s different every time because that’s his thing. He’s so creative,” Morgan explains. Sharon Osbourne agrees: Poppycock is brilliant, he’s the male version of Lady Gaga. “I bow down to him,” she says.

Poppycock’s performance came last, closing this week’s show of AGT and thus breathing some much needed spunk in an otherwise lackluster program, reports say.

“While many of the early acts on America’s Got Talent‘s semi-final competition buckled under the pressure Tuesday, the electrifying moment of the night came at the end with Prince Poppycock, whom Sharon Osbourne dubbed the ‘male Lady Gaga’,” People also writes.

Prince Poppycock is actually 32-year-old John Quale from Virginia. He doesn’t come from a musical family but he’s determined to make a name for himself as a singer – and he’s more than happy that America is now creating for him a place where he can belong.

Below is his most recent performance (albeit the video is of rather poor quality). Enjoy.
