Microsoft's Ingenuity Point Competition is an excellent start for making a difference in terms of implementing software innovations, designed to bring benefits to healthcare, education and to the environment. Via the Ingenuity Point Competition, Microsoft is celebrating independent software vendors that develop solutions designed to deliver a positive impact. Itself a leader in terms of innovation, Microsoft slipped into the background and let the winners of the competition take center stage: TR Control Solutions, Tobii Technology, and OSIsoft.

"Microsoft is inspired by the passion and innovation we've seen from ISVs around the world. ISVs want to be successful and be good global citizens at the same time. We're excited to hold a competition that focuses on how companies are using Microsoft technologies to make an impact in the world. Ingenuity Point is part of our efforts to put the spotlight on some of the incredible work that we've seen from ISVs, and help those companies use their expertise to make a bigger impact", commented Rob Bernard, Microsoft's chief environmental strategist and former general manager of the company's Worldwide ISV group.

In addition to these initial winners, Microsoft is getting ready to applaud another three ISVs. The second part of the competition will come to an end on February 28th, 2008, and at that time, another three winners will be selected to join TR Control Solutions, Tobii Technology and OSIsoft. The Redmond company promised that all winners would be awarded with a wide range of resources, including marketing tools that would permit them to extend the reach and awareness of their solutions.

On top of this, one of the six companies will also be selected as the Platinum Ingenuity Point Award winner in the spring of the coming year. The position of the Platinum Ingenuity Point Award winner is synonymous with a judge seat at the Microsoft Imagine Cup 2008 competition.
