Though one might not immediately think of it, the solar cell market is one that has grown quite a bit over the past years, a trend that has reportedly continued during the month of June.

Though it was most definitely not a fortunate development, the economic recession did have some ultimately positive consequences.

One of the main benefits, so to speak, was that most everyone on the IT market focused on energy efficiency much more intensely than before.

This includes the attempt to develop ways to draw power from those sources that had not and have not been harnessed properly yet.

Solar power is one of those sources, and it truly seems as though some genuine progress was made not too long ago.

Truly, even consumer products are getting landed with solar panels, and this, naturally, means better business for manufacturers of such things.

Speaking of which, Digitimes reports that Neo Solar Power and Solartech, solar cell makers based in Taiwan, have both grown in revenues during the month of June, 2011.

Solartech, for one, reported NT$977 million (the equivalent of US$34 million), this implying a growth, on month, of 34.57%.

Meanwhile, Neo Solar Power got NT$1,772 million, meaning a more modest on-month rise of 1.32%.

In that same order, the companies succeeded in amassing NT$7,906 million and NT$2,453 million, respectively, during the January-June period, corresponding to on-year boosts of $122.20% and 124.20%, respectively.

What one might find surprising is the fact that solar cell prices have actually been decreasing, with June quites being 30-40% lower than those of the first quarter.

Fortunately, demand seems to be reviving even in Europe, the region that still appears to be suffering from the aftermath of the recession. What remains is to see whether or not the rise in prices projected for June (and which failed to happen) will occur this month.
