Database update for the video service

YouTube is continuously growing up and this is proved by the number of clips uploaded every day on the official page of the product. It seems like the YouTube loading time was increased by the huge number of the videos, a problem that urgently needed a fix. To repair the issue, the parent company Google decided to move ALL the clips to a new database but keep the site available for all the users. Now, this is extremely difficult because the search giant's employees are forced to transfer the videos one by one but, at the same time, they tried to make them available to all viewers. According to a YouTube employee, the product's engineers managed to move all the clips and repair the bug, YouTube's loading times being now brought to normal.

"These changes were in the works for quite a while and they represent a lot of hard work by a dedicated team. What happened was that millions and millions of accounts and videos were migrated one by one to new database clusters while the site was up and running. It takes a huge amount of time to perform this kind of operation -- you can think of it as the equivalent of changing the motor in your car while you are actually driving on the highway," the employee said.

As you can see in the clip attached to the article, it was quite a difficult job and all the engineers who worked at the update are extremely satisfied after they managed to accomplish the mission. In the recent time, YouTube evolved a lot and will grow up even more because the Internet users are continuously attracted to upload any type of video on the Google service.
