New tool implemented into the search technology

The Google rival Yahoo finally managed to implement one of the most discussed features for a search engine: suggestions. Basically, they were introduced a long time ago in numerous search technologies, even Google tried it sometimes, but it was never included in Yahoo's search engine. However, the Sunnyvale company worked with a similar feature when they rolled out Yahoo Toolbar, a browser add-on that includes a search box for Yahoo's search engine. If you didn't know, the suggestions appear while you type, meaning that you can limit the time required for a search query to only one second.

The function is available to all the users straight on the main portal of Yahoo but, if you find it annoying, you can disable it by pressing the more button and choosing the "Disable Search Suggestions" option.

"The nice thing about the suggestions is that they're not obtrusive, so if you already know what you're searching for, you can overlook the suggestions without them getting in your way. But, when you experience those brain dead moments like we all do, it's the type of feature that just might get things moving again. If you don't like change, you can turn it off altogether by simply selecting "disable" in the bottom right corner of the drop down menu. And, if you're having regrets, you can reinstall it by selecting "more" above the search box," Kevin Lee, Yahoo! Search, said today.

The suggestions are very useful especially for the users looking for a certain type of information but they don't know exactly what to type to find it. Also, you can reduce the time required for searching the Internet to only one second since the technology provides suggestions as you type. And as the Yahoo employee said, "not only does the feature eliminate my embarrassment of misspellings, it makes for a much more efficient search experience."
