Sometime during summer

Relic announced even before the release date that Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War II would be getting extensive support after launch, and it seems to be keeping its word.

Quite some months after the initial release of the title and with requested features, like native support for 2 versus 2 matches and maps, already introduced, the developer announced that a major content patch for Dawn of War II would be coming this summer, under the official name “There Is Only War.”

The update is set to add quite a few new things to the videogame. There will be no less than eight new multiplayer maps included the game, which means that it will have a total of 18, enough to silence all the critics who complained that there was no variety in the multiplayer matches. The maps should use all new settings, exploring industrial areas of the solar system featured in the game.

Dawn of War II is also set to get a fresh Observer feature through There Is Only War, with players being able to watch matches live, without the need to wait for the match to finish and get the game replay.

Relic is also talking about a lot of balance changes, most of them aimed at the multiplayer experience. Some new abilities have been added, costs have been tweaked, bugs and exploits have been squashed. As the release date draws near, Relic will be offering detailed information on what's changed.

Until then, fans of Dawn of War II can also look into the open beta, which the developer is set to bring online in July and which will be used to get feedback on the changes and tweak some aspects of There Is Only War, if need be. The multiplayer community must be thrilled about that.
