1.12 will bring cross realm battlegrounds and non instanced massive world PvP

With each new battleground presented to World Of Warcraft it became apparent that the long waiting hours before actually entering one, killed the joy in many players.

Forums raged on an on about the different possibilities available for solving this conundrum and eventually Blizzard agreed that cross server battlegrounds is not only a good feature, but a necessity. It seems time has come to see those changes firsthand. Coming in the next patch, players from several realms will be gathered into huge matchmaking pools, assuring virtually no waiting times to the Alterac Valley, Warsong Gulch and Arathi Basin arenas. No longer will it matter that your friends play on another realm as you'll be able to meet them in combat and above all, the cross realm battle for PvP supremacy will definitely bring about the resurrection of a fair amount of highly PvP-active characters.

The second issue Blizzard addressed is the lack of massive world PvP. Being a major patch, 1.12 will bring about new content to the game's evolving world, forever changing the way we knew Silithus and Eastern Plaguelands. In Silithus the objectives revolve around collecting silithyst dust from the hive geysers. Each turn in gives faction and honor rewards, a temporary stamina boost and switches the players' flag to PvP. This is particularly important on PvE servers as bloodshed will ensue in a perpetual fight for dominance over the Cenarion Hold's questing grounds. When enough silithyst has been gathered, all players in the area, as well as those in Ahn'Qiraj dungeon will receive a long lasting buff. In Eastern Plaguelands there'll be an even more detailed and straight off PvP mode, a capture the flag scenario similar to the action of Arathi Basin. Several towers in this zone will be converted to captureable bases that Horde and Alliance will need to control and defend. The faction who possesses all four will also gain a zone wide buff, increasing damage against the many undead creatures there and in Stratholme. PvP-specific flight paths will be connecting the towers to each other. Since this is non instanced, world PvP, legions of players will come crashing down like they used to in Tarren Mill, before the idea of battlegrounds was even born.
