Majesco is continuing its series of game announcements by telling us that it plans to enter the market of fitness games with the upcoming release of Fitness Ultimatum 2009, also known as Jillian Michaels' Fitness Ultimatum. The game is set to debut in retail sometime around the coveted holiday season and is being developed by 3G Studio, which recently collaborated with Harmonix to bring Rock Band to the PlayStation 3 and the Xbox 360.

It seems everybody wants a piece of Nintendo's success with the Wii Fit and everybody, from Namco Bandai to Electronic Arts, is offering a new gimmick designed to attract the audience. Majesco is betting on the fact that having a real life trainer attached to the game will boost its credibility with clients and make for a better fitness experience in the game.

The publisher says that the title will feature complete Balance Board support and that the regular fat burning exercises will be paired up with "expert advice and exercise techniques from the charismatic Jillian Michaels." The game will most likely feature four types of training regime, called Weight Loss, Strength Training, Intervals and Hill Climb.

Climbing ladders, rowing and crossing monkey bars are among the actions that will be performed with the aid of the Wiimote and with the Balance Board. Because Jillian Michaels' Fitness Ultimatum is a family game, it will also feature a "party mode" where all the fitness exercises are turned into competitions for up to eight players.

Jesse Sutton, Majesco's Chief Executive Officer, stated that the "Wii and the Wii Balance Board have added a credible and effective new option for players looking to get in shape in a fun and entertaining way. Jillian Michaels' expertise in the fitness world coupled with the innovative Wii Balance Board lets us deliver a compelling game that will change the way America approaches home fitness."
