Though already one of the most popular gaming systems on the market, Maingear's SHIFT 'personal supercomputer' has now been given a slew of new customizing and hardware options, for both a higher performance and better looks.

The SHIFT has been Maingear's enthusiast-grade gaming rig for months now and has now become even more appealing, or so some would say.

What happened was that Maingear released the Super Stock options, a set of various aesthetic and performance-enhancing components.

In terms of actual hardware, the company has made available the Redline CPU overclocking technology, for clocks of up to 4.5 GHz with the Intel Core i7-980X Extreme Edition chip.

Another more or less major option is the Maingear LiquidX 2700 Supercooler package, a hand-built, tuned watercooling loop. A LiquidX 2900 model is also available.

Users can also go for three hot-swappable drive bays, all of them front-mounted, so that HDDs can be easily placed and replaced.

The chassis that Maingear puts together has another special asset, in the form of a patent-pending advanced vertical heat dissipation system.

Not only that, but there are even about 200 color combinations for the exterior and interior of the enclosure, as well as internal LED lights to match them.

The list of color options includes Cobalt Blue, Frost White, Root Beer, Brandywine and Organic Green.

What's more, Maingear has put a 1.5kW Silverstone Strider Modular Industrial power supply at its customers' disposal.

This, along with the aforementioned liquid cooling solutions, should let them set up whatever overclocking and multi-GPU scenarios they may wish.

Of course, the company threw in acoustic dampening and several larger fans (180mm) as an optional bonus over everything else.

Those interested in the new features need only stop by the PC supplier's official website if they want more information.
