Maingear, a well renowned custom PC builder, has just announced that the company has updated its desktop computer line to feature Intel's recently launched Core i7 990X processor, as the CPU is now available in the Shift, F131, Vybe and X-Cube high-performance systems.

The Core i7 990X is the fastest processor in Intel's desktop arsenal and it features a six-core design as well as a 3.46GHz operating frequency.

In addition to its extreme speed and high computing power, the chip also features Hyper-Threading and Turbo Boost support (up to 3.73GHz), packs 12MB of L3 cache memory, a tri-channel memory controller and a 130W TDP.

Users who decide to purchase a Maingear desktop powered by the Core i7 990X can also choose what the company likes to call the “Super Stock 6” option.

This means that the system will arrive factory overclocked, up to 4.5GHz, while also featuring custom automotive paint and interior lighting.

“The new Intel core i7 990x is a great addition to the Maingear lineup,” said Wallace Santos, CEO and founder of Maingear.

“Partnering up with Intel to be one of the first system builders to offer up this new processor really shows that Maingear truly offers the best PC experience money can buy,” concluded the company's rep.

Established in 2002, Maingear is a privately held boutique computer manufacturer that specializes in designing custom gaming desktops and laptops as well as media center PCs and workstations.

Over its short history, the company managed to become one of the best regarded boutique builders in the industry, Nvidia even using their Shift system for showcasing the GF100 at CES 2010.

When configuring an LGA 1366 Shift desktop, the Intel Core Extreme i7 990X is listed as an $991 upgrade, pushing the price of the base system to a whopping $4079 USD.
