Enters head-to-head competition with Alienware's M17x

Following the much-hyped launch of Alienware's 'All Powerful' M17x laptop, it looks like another PC vendor has come up with a high-performance portable computer system designed to provide users with the ultimate gaming experience. MAINGEAR, a company that specializes in providing its customers with custom-built computer systems, has just announced the introduction of its new eX-L 18 notebook PC, claiming it to be the world's most powerful gaming notebook. As you can imagine, this system is also built using three NVIDIA GeForce graphics chips, combined with Intel's high-end Core 2 mobile processors, as well as dual-channel DDR3 memory.

According to the system specifications, computer enthusiasts will be happy to know that the new high-performance notebook from Maingear has been built on the Intel MCP79 chipset, featuring support for Intel's Core 2 Extreme quad-core processors, combined with single or dual GeForce GTX 280M GPU in SLI configuration. The system can also be equipped with a 7200RPM hard drive with up to 500GB of storage space, in addition to a low-capacity 80GB SATA SSD, for application and operating system installs. Memory can be pumped out to 8GB of DDR3, with users also being offered the opportunity to choose a DVD or a Blu-ray optical drive.

 

Equipped with an 18.4-inch LCD screen, capable of outputting images at a resolution of 1920 by 1080 pixels, the Maingear eX-L 18 comes with a starting price tag of US$2,999.
