Custom system builder Maingear has just announced the introduction of a new series of water coolers developed in partnership with CoolIT that are available in the company's Shift, F131 and Vybe desktops.

The new liquid cooler series is called EPIC (Enhanced Performance InterCooler) and Maingear and CoolIT have developed three different models, the EPIC 180, EPIC 140 and the EPIC 120.

The largest of the bunch is the EPIC 180 as it features a massive 180mm radiator which the company states it can offer 20% cooler temperatures than a 120mm radiator. In addition, the thermal resistance of the cooler has been measured at 0.075 degrees C/W (Celsius per watt).

Maingear's offers the EPIC 180 only in its Shift custom PCs, while the EPIC 140 and EPIC 120 are available in the F131 and Vybe desktops, respectively.

All EPIC cooling systems are built with a closed loop circuit design which doesn't require any sort of maintenance during its lifetime.

“The EPIC 180 is the most aggressive cooling system we've ever built and we were delighted to work with the Maingear team to create a custom built system that delivers the ultimate in silent cooling.” Said Geoff Lyon, President and CEO of CoolIT Systems.

“Maingear has been fearless in its no-holds-barred approach to building the fastest PC's in the world and it's our privilege to be an exclusive part of their product strategy,” conclude the company's rep.

Only the EPIC 180 and EPIC 120 are available at this time, as the EPIC 140 is expected to arrive later in Q2, and the former is priced at $90.00 while the latter comes as a $28.00 upgrade.

Maingear will not be selling these water coolers without a system purchase but existing customers can get their retrofit with such a unit if they want.
