New graphics card secures the support of another major custom desktop vendor

Yesterday, January 31, was the day when AMD's latest graphics card got launched, so today is the day the world reacts, starting with developers of gaming desktops, like Maingear.

As it did for more or less every other powerful graphics card released by NVIDIA or Advanced Micro Devices, Maingear has adopted the AMD Radeon HD 7950.

It was yesterday that the board showed up in official capacity, and the act was quickly echoed by the likes of PowerColor, MSI, VTX3D and a bunch of other companies.

Maingear's own press release says that the new graphics adapter will be used in its SHIFT and F131 systems (the so-called EPIC machines).

"High performance PC users looking for a No-Compromise solution need to look no further than a MAINGEAR system equipped with our custom EPIC solutions and an AMD RADEON HD 7900 series graphics card," said Wallace Santos, CEO and founder of MAINGEAR.

The Maingear EPIC line of computers gets its name from the EPIC performance enhancements, like the EPIC Audio Engine and EPIC 180 liquid cooling system.

The main advantage of HD 7950 is that it offers support for DirectX 11.1 gaming at a lower price than the 7970.

Of course, $450/ 420 Euro is still a rather hefty price tag, even for something that scores higher, in benchmarks, than NVIDIA's GeForce GTX 580 (the current top-end board from the Santa Clara company).

The card also offers the AMD App Acceleration technology, which speeds up video encoding, transcoding and decoding, making the newcomer an asset for things other than gaming.

Of course, anyone considering the purchase of a Maingear EPIC beast will have to be ready to part with a large sum of cash.

That said, those still interested in the offers will have to drop by the official website for pricing/shipment/customization details. Obviously, it is possible to choose Radeon HD 7970 cards as well.
