Neodymium magnets to the max

This nifty interior design piece of gadgetry is rather old, but surely most of you have either forgotten about it or simply haven't heard of it in the first place, which is why it made it into our column once more. Magneto is all about customization: think about the ability to change a piece of furniture as many times as you feel like it, and at the same time being able to set up your living space according to your different moods or needs!

Magneto is the brainchild of designer Henry Julier, and it is in fact a very nifty set of custom wooden shelves that can be easily installed in pretty much any location or setting as long as it has a piece of metal in it.

If you've heard about neodymium magnets before, then you should know that these are about the most powerful permanent magnets created by man so far. Thanks to their special characteristics, they are now being used in a very wide range of applications where small dimensions and very strong perpetual magnetic forces are key elements.

The Magneto shelves are made from wood and are very friendly as far as integration in various decors is concerned; their mild coloring and wood fiber design will surely be a pleasant presence in any setting. Each of these 6 shelves has an oblique cut for a non-conventional look and possibly to make the owner give it a second thought when it comes to setting up a place.

With 1 to 3 neodymium magnets in each shelf, depending on its dimensions and estimated supported weight, Magneto will stay in place quite well; all sorts of small (and not too heavy) objects can be safely placed on these shelves as they can be installed in different places around the house, wherever a metallic surface is present. They'll also go well on the sides of your fridge giving you additional room for small kitchen things and adding to the artistic impression as well. Moreover, the Magneto shelves can also be used in offices and similar spaces with maximal success!

We are just a few, but there are many of you, Softpedia users, out there. That's why we thought it would be a good idea to create an email address for you to help us a little in finding gadgets we missed. Interesting links are bound to be posted with recognition going mainly to those who submit. The address is .
