14 DAY TRIAL // EJ Johnson’s name might not ring a bell, but if you’re heavy into reality television, you must know him as one of the stars (and biggest divas) on #RichKids of Beverly Hills, which is set to return to E! for a third season on May 24. He’s also the son of NBA legend Magic Johnson.
EJ is now about 100 pounds (45.3 kg), if not more, lighter and since he’s doing the media rounds to promote the new season of his reality show, there’s no better time than now to show if off.
New body, new outlook on life
Available below is a photo EJ posted to his Instagram some hours ago, after another one of his TV appearances. The photo above is of him at his heaviest, for comparison.
A few days ago, EJ also appeared on Wendy Williams’ show, where he offered a bit more details about his journey to his current, much slimmer figure. You can see the full interview in the video below.
He didn’t do it without help from doctors, but he insists that getting a gastric bypass is not some kind of weight loss magic bullet: it’s the kick that you need to overhaul your life.
He estimates he lost about 100 pounds (45.3 kg), if not actually more, and stresses that he did it more or less the hard way: he changed his diet and started working out more, doing stuff that helped him burn more calories.
TV figure Star Jones, who also had surgery to help her lose weight, met with him before the procedure and warned him that surgery wasn’t a shortcut that allowed him to be lazy. It was an aide to weight loss.
New body, new fashion opportunities
EJ says that everything in his life changed when he decided to finally get rid of the excess weight and attempt to lead a healthier life. His entire outlook changed, but just as importantly, all sorts of fashion opportunities started opening up.
Whereas before he would focus mostly on his shoes and bags game, today he finds out that he can also run wild with his style in clothing. For instance, right now, he favors meshes and illusion fabrics, jumpsuits and other styles that show “a lot of flesh.”
EJ will soon be an NYU graduate, and he splits his time flying from NYC to LA, where he’s shooting #RichKids. He wants to stay in entertainment and is even considering acting, he explains.
