From IBM

Voice recording has not been for many years a spectacular achievement, and the presence of such a function in most of today's MP3 players has turned the cassette voice recorders into a magnetic memory.

Still, even the most common MP3 player function can be turned into a separate gadget, and IBM was the company to do it.

The device is called Magic Book (via Gizmodo) and its only capability is to record the sound captured by the built-in microphone. However, it has something other voice recorders lack, the ability to search through the stored material. IBM allows users to search using a certain time stamp, keyword, or even the voice of a person.

Another welcome innovation for this device, where the information privacy is vital, is the embedded fingerprint reader, which prevents the unauthorized access.

Users will surely appreciate the simple, yet effective, design that prevents the accidental pressing of the buttons.

Although some gadget sites suggest that Magic Book is able to record all day long, there isn't a single specification regarding the storage capacity. Unfortunately, the price has not been announced either, and so, we can't tell if IBM will be able to turn IBM into a winner.

We are just a few, but there are many of you, Softpedia users, out there. That's why we thought it would be a good idea to create an email address for you to help us a little in finding gadgets we missed. Interesting links are bound to be posted with recognition going mainly to those who submit. The address is .
