2K Games has officially unveiled the first two packs of downloadable content that will be released for Mafia II. The Betrayal of Jimmy will be the free download that was promised to PlayStation 3 owners during the Sony's E3 press briefing, while the Jimmy's Vendetta package will be launched on the Xbox 360 and the PC as well.

The Betrayal of Jimmy piece of downloadable content will be available on the same day Mafia II launches exclusively for the PlayStation 3. In the vein of Electronic Arts' Project Ten Dollar, every new copy of Mafia II for the PlayStation 3 will contain a voucher with a code that will allow the free acquisition of the DLC. Second hand customers will have to purchase it for ten dollars.

The DLC will let players fill in the shoes of Jimmy, a mercenary that takes part in various assassinations and timed vehicle chases throughout Empire Bay, the game's fictional urban backdrop. The missions will contain an arcade type of gameplay, as points will be earned for performance, power slides and skill shots. Players will be able to compete through leaderboards to increase the re-playability of the DLC.

Jimmy's Vendetta will be available for the PlayStation 3, the Xbox 360 and the PC soon after launch. No date or pricing have been specified by 2K Games, but it has revealed that this pack of DLC will contain the same type of gameplay present in The Betrayal of Jimmy. Players will take up various tasks to rack up high scores and rise through the online leaderboards. Mafia II is an open world sandbox action adventure game set in the 1940's and 1950's America that aims to recreate the life of a mobster from that time. The title is set to be released on the 27th of August 2010.
