The open world crime game is set in Louisiana, apparently

The main characters from the upcoming Mafia 3 title from 2K Games might have been spoiled by a casting call for voice actors who want to share their voices and likeness to the new game.

Mafia 1 was a cult classic many years ago, delivering a bold open world experience set in the golden days of the mob in North America. Mafia 2 appeared more recently and, while it didn't rise to the same degree of success, it was still praised for its pretty great story and characters.

After a period of development at the 2K Czech studio, it seemed last month that franchise owner 2K had moved the whole project to the U.S. for a new team to take over.

Now, after a period of radio silence, it appears that a list of main characters from the possible Mafia 3 has leaked online, thanks to casting call website ActorsAccess, via AGB.

The call was confirmed to be made by Take-Two Interactive, the parent company of 2K Games, and includes requirements for actors who will need to provide voice overs, but also motion capture and likeness and facial scanning.

The three characters mentioned in the call seem to be the three most important people in the game and are called Franklin, Tony, and Mickey.

Franklin is a mixed-race character, with African American and Caucasian parents, and he grew up in Louisiana, where he was an outsider to both black and white societies. After returning from the war, he is looking for different jobs to earn some money and "rise to criminal prominence."

Another main character will be Tony, an Italian living in Louisiana who deals in sports betting operations.

"Tony is not your typical gangster. Meticulous and organized, Tony is more concerned about numbers and profit than people. On the surface, Tony appears quiet and socially awkward, but in reality he is more than capable of inflicting violence on anyone who disrupts his bottom line."

Last but not least, there's Mickey, also an Italian from Louisiana but much younger and less experienced than Tony, for example.

"A young street hustler who likes to run his mouth, Mickey likes to talk big on the streets, but when push comes to shove, he can't back it up. Mickey has a bad habit of taking credit for bigger jobs and making himself seem higher up in the criminal ladder than he really is. When confronted with this, he reverts back to the scared teenager he really is."

From these descriptions, it's possible that Mafia 3 might use three main protagonists, just like Grand Theft Auto 5, and will be set in Louisiana, which is a departure from Mafia 1's Lost Heaven and Mafia 2's Empire Bay, based on Chicago or New York, respectively.

As of yet, 2K Games hasn't released a comment on the leaks.
