Mafia's follow-up trailer, more than a rumor

Something's coming straight from Germany and it's not the Games Convention in Leipzig... It seems that the German classification board, Unterhaltungssoftware Selbstkontrolle, has just rated a trailer for Mafia 2. Is there such thing as a Mafia 2 title? We received no word from the producers and the first contact with Mafia's sequel might take place in Leipzig in the following days.

In a gaming universe where the mobster action games are never obsolete, Mafia 2 would be a welcome addition to its fellow titles pertaining to the genre. We've played Scarface, Reservoir Dogs, The Godfather and Mafia so far and if one of these games deserves a sequel, it's certainly Mafia. Of course, the young gamers might prefer the 50 Cent-style gangstering, but those of us who saw the movie "Scarface" back in the days when it was released will never get tired of Mexican or Italian hot shots running their illegal businesses.

Will Mafia 2 rival GTA IV? Will it be released before the fourth GTA installment? And these are only two of the hundreds of questions a gamer can ask. The logical thing to do is to go to Leipzig (assuming we'll see a Mafia 2 trailer there) and find out more about the upcoming game. In case this is all a rumor, shame on those that try to take advantage of great names and "invent" sequels just to make the fans' hearts gain some beats per minute.

Well, things started the same way with NFS ProStreet, GTA IV and Starcraft II and they've gone beyond the rumor status, far beyond. I just hope that this won't be another S.T.A.L.K.E.R since I don't intend to wait for the follow-up to one of my favorite games for the rest of my life. The things will get cleared at the Games Convention and hopefully the news will be good.
