“Um… thanks” isn’t exactly Madonna brimming with excitement

Whether you like his music or not, whether you think his image is forced or even outdated, Marilyn Manson gives amazing interviews. Too bad that they’re so rare, since he’s also famously media shy and will only talk to journalists if he has a new album to promote.

A while back, Manson spoke to i-D Magazine about his latest record, “The Pale Emperor,” and he also casually mentioned being interested in Madonna’s newest album - and perhaps even a bit more with her, if she was game.

Marilyn Manson’s public offer and Madonna’s refusal

To be more exact, this is how Mason brought Madonna’s name up, without any introduction whatsoever, as the reporter casually noted how old-fashioned he was when it came to certain topics:

“I’m kind of interested in this Madonna record. She looks hotter than ever. I’d also like to let it be known that I still have a crush on Madonna and I would definitely fornicate with her.”

Let it be known that, despite the offer, Manson was at the time (and still is) in a serious relationship, with photographer/model Lindsay Usich, so it wasn’t like he could have really gone through with this, had Madonna accepted.

Somehow, word of this circled back to the Queen of Pop just now, and she took to Instagram over the weekend to post the quote with a photo of the rocker. Her response was telling without actually being offensive to him, reading just “Um… thanks.”

That’s not a “call me, and we’ll see how it plays out” and it’s not exactly a “thanks but no thanks” either. It’s halfway: it’s Madonna’s way of accepting the compliment while shutting down the guy making it.

Even though she tagged Manson, he has not responded. Chances are he won’t at all, because he too is busy promoting his new album.

Madonna likes them young

Truth be told now, at 46 years of age, Marilyn Manson is probably too old for Madonna, who, for many years now, has only been dating boys in their early 20s - mid-20s at the oldest.

To her credit, she always aims to build a relationship with them, so she doesn’t change them like dirty socks, though she probably could if she wanted. It’s not like she’s lacking in suitors, you know.

Until just recently, Madonna would rarely talk about her love life, but she’s considerably more open these days. She even made fun of herself on that on a recent appearance on Jimmy Fallon, when she asked for the chance to show that she could cut it as a stand-up comedian.

The crowd loved it, and she seemed to be having a lot of fun too.
