Wisconsin's own Snuggle House has been shut down by officials after concerns related to illegal activities have caught more and more attention. The business that offered soft and warm cuddles and hugs was believed to lead to something more than just innocent spooning for people in need of affection.

The owner of Madison Snuggle House insisted that his establishment was legit and nothing illegal was happening because of a very strong precaution system thought exactly for this type of business. The services offered by the professional employees consisted of simple snuggling, cuddling, hugging and spooning for $60 (€43) an hour, according to Metro.

Officials concerned about the activities happening under the name of snuggling pressured the owner to close his business. Even if the establishment had installed panic buttons, security cameras and had rules preventing drugs, alcohol or any other illegal activities, people said there was no way a man would only want to snuggle.

The business owner's shady past didn't help his case and Madison's Snuggle House was shut down, disappointing the ones who were looking forward to this kind of services. No one believed that these activities could be kept at the innocent level the promoters advertised.

Other similar businesses appeared across the US offering professional cuddling services. Samantha Hess is the proud owner of CuddleUpToMe.com who offers similar services to the ones the Snuggle House offered and for the same price. The Portland based business even offers the possibly of spending the night with a professional hugger, in a platonic way of course, for just $300 (€218).

Cuddling has been said to have a positive influence on people's health reducing the risk of heart disease, low blood pressure, stress or anxiety. When entrepreneurs see an opportunity, they take it and fructify it so, when people like Samantha saw people's need for platonic affection, she decided to make a profitable business out of it.
