The development team at EA Sports has not received a lot of time to show the improvements linked to Madden NFL 16 during the Electronic Arts E3 2015 press conference, but the studio is ready to offer fans a wealth of details about the way it has enhanced the core features of the American football sim for this year's installment.

On the official site, the company explains that feedback from fans has been heard, and the apex of the new experience is the way interactions between wide receivers and defensive backs come into focus under the Air Supremacy name.

Madden NFL 16 has a new handoff system, designed with a version for each play with unique animations and much tighter timing between handoff and blocking.

Quarterbacks also move in new ways, with a new series of pocket mechanics and scrambles, and a new AI that makes better use of players like Marcus Mariota and Cam Newton.

EA Sports also says that it is adding a new body relative throw and improving the catching system, with three new types to choose from.

The development team explains that run after catches is possible, in addition to the aggressive catch and possession catch, each with its own advantages and downsides, and players will have to decide which to use for the plays they are running.

Madden NFL 16 also has hundreds of new interactions between receivers and defenders.

EA Sports is also adding authentic plays and more options

Tom Moore, one of the legendary coaches of the NFL, has been consulted in order to deliver authentic shot plays.

For defensive modes in the game, the team is improving play ball mechanics, adding play receiver and delivering organic gang tackles based around real world physics.

A range of other small tweaks have also been implemented to make Madden NFL 16 more realistic and to improve how the AI plays the sim.

Authentic penalties have also been added with a new trait for each player based on NFL data, along with tweaks that are linked to the strategy each of the teams is using, with the sliders based on the past five years of data from the real world.

EA Sports has also improved head tracking for all positions in Madden NFL 16.

The game is set to arrive on the Xbox One, the PlayStation 4 and older home consoles on August 25.
