EA Sports has released a bunch of screenshots from the upcoming Madden NFL 15, showing off its next-gen shine and the power of its Ignite Engine.

Historians are still on the fence about whether the Madden series was invented before the wheel, as the upcoming title is the 27th game in the long-standing franchise.

The devs have revealed that Madden NFL 15 will have a lot more focus on defensive play, touting reworked mechanics and a much more engaging and rewarding overall experience.

"New defensive features and mechanics allow fans to transform into their rival's worst nightmare, with an arsenal of new pass rush moves, new open-field tackling mechanics, new defensive cameras and much more," the company states.

Some of the new moves that expand the arsenal of Madden NFL 15 were already shown earlier this month, when EA Sports released the first gameplay trailer for the American football sports game.

"Like the Super Bowl XLVIII champion Seattle Seahawks, you can win championships and bask in the glory of success by building a great defense fit to challenge the best offenses in the game."

"Fans will also experience an entirely new broadcast presentation that delivers Madden NFL game day like never before with dramatic all-new camera angles, as well as dynamic pre-game and halftime features," the company says.

The extensive collection of screenshots suggest an incredible level of detail and showcase the Ignite Engine's brand-new and quite fancy features, such as detailed facial expressions and jersey wrinkling, complete with an overhauled lighting system that provides greatly enhanced reflections and shadows, offering the game a much more realistic outlook.

In addition to this, for the first time in the series, the athlete likenesses also include tattoos, which has been a taboo subject up to now. In fact, the game's first released screenshot revealed San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick's tats, and there were voices wondering whether the entire NFL roster would get the same treatment in the final game.

The new contract between Electronic Arts and the NFL appears to have also included a more authentic rendering of the athletes, but so far the reveals don't show whether Kaepernick's body art rendering was an isolated incident or the norm.

Madden NFL 15 is currently scheduled to come out on August 26 in North America, and August 29 in Europe, headed for the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 computer entertainment system from Sony and for the Xbox 360 and Xbox One consoles from Microsoft.
