It seems the new Madden NFL football simulation video game will offer the audience the chance to evaluate players and teams using a new stats. It will be called Swagger and is apparently the result of a collaboration between Electronic Arts and Old Spice. Initial reports are saying the Swagger, or SWG stat, will affect how the super stars of the game handle themselves in the most important plays, with their confidence often helping them pull moves that others are unable to perform.

The image attached to his article shows the Swagger stat attached to an actual athlete that will appear in Madden NFL 11. Old Spice released stats for the teams in the NFL earlier in the year, saying the Indiana Colts were the outfit with the most swagger to their name.

Talking to ESPN, which is one of the partners of EA Sports on Madden NFL 11, a representative also revealed that the new Swagger stat “determines the likelihood of a player to celebrate on the way to the end zone or after a touchdown. For example, a running back like Adrian Peterson (99 rating) has a greater tendency to celebrate than Frank Gore (50 rating).” The statement does not unveil whether this is the only thing that the Old Spice sponsored number affects or whether there are also other consequences that long time fans will discover once they pick up Madden NFL 11.

The new football video game from EA Sports is set to arrive on August 10 on home consoles and will aim to deliver, as always, a more realistic simulation of the sport. The developers are saying they aim to make the experience simpler, deeper and quicker at the same time, allowing each player to focus on those aspects of the video game that they deem to be the most interesting. The Online Play features of Madden NFL 11 have also been expanded.
