One of the newest film franchises set to be rebooted in the next few years is the iconic Mad Max one, and, like any self respecting blockbuster movie, a game based on it isn't far behind.

We already know that the title is being developed by the designer of God of War II, Cory Barlog, and now it seems that a studio has also been linked to the whole project.

Even though Barlog declined to say what studio is working with him for the Mad Max 4: Fury Road video game adaptation, new rumors point to Swedish developer Avalanche Studios, which was responsible for the Just Cause franchise.

After Barlog officially revealed that he was in charge of the new Mad Max game, the founder of Avalanche Studios, Christofer Sundberg, revealed his studio has secured a "major Hollywood license" and it will co-develop it with a major media group.

He then went into details, saying that the property was right up Avalanche's alley, as the studio didn't want to leave behind the "big game worlds and "spectacular explosive action" which made the Just Cause franchise such a hit with gamers all around the world.

The original Just Cause, and its sequel, which appeared a few months ago, were praised for their huge, open worlds, which allowed the player to wreak havoc and play with the impressive physics engine of the title.

Barlog is still best known for his work on God of War II, continuing the project of another flamboyant designer, David Jaffe, but soon left the Sony Santa Monica studio before starting the development process for God of War III.

He also worked on Backyard Wrestling: Don't Try This at Home and X-Men: Next Dimension.

Barlog was contacted when this rumor hit, but the developer only revealed that "Hmmm, not sure. Maaaaaaybe."

The Mad Max video game is slated to hit around 2012, so we might be in for a long wait until official details will be available.
