Audio Recorder, the audio capturing conversion utility for Mac OS X, developed by Macvide, has reached version 1.9. The app can convert audio files to formats such as mp3, mp4, amr, wma, mmf, aac, ac3, flac, mp2, helping bridge the gap between many audio standards. Version 1.9 is a maintenance update. A demo version that adds a logo to the output video is available for free download.

“Recording to a computer has never been easier,” says Macvide, adding that its Audio Recorder application for Tiger and Leopard users, available for both Intel and PPC machines, “is ideal for recording voice or other audio that you can use in podcasts or other voice presentations, or to create an audio book.” As noted above, Macvide Audio Recorder supports popular audio formats including mp3, wma, amr, mmf, aac, ac3 flac, and mp2 for quick and easy recording of audio notes, messages and more.

Users can also record voice or music directly from a microphone or other external line-in input using Macvide's solution, and even record sounds that are being played by the Mac internally. For example, you can record whatever iTunes, QuickTime and Flash are playing, as well as the sound output from your games, streaming audio from the web etc.

Having been designed to be simple and robust for professional and corporate recording applications, Macvide Audio Recorder enables you to:

- Record sound, voice, notes, music or any other audio. - Save recordings to your hard drive in mp3, iPod mp4. - Wave encoding at sample rates between 6000 and 196000Hz in PCM, or many other codecs and bits.

Audio Recorder 1.9, the latest version of Macvide's recording solution for Mac OS X users, is available here. The software requires Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger) or later, and is a Universal Binary. Users of previous versions can upgrade to the new version for free. You can register your own copy for US$19.95.
