Developer Ian Page has rolled out an updated version of its popular reference tool for Mac users, Mactracker. Adding iPhone 4, the new Mac minis, and performance scores for iPhone from Primate Labs Geekbench 2, Mactracker version 5.2.1 Build 215 is now immediately available for free download. To support development, donations are encouraged, Page notes.

According to the release notes provided by Ian Page, version 5.2.1 brings the following changes:

- Adds iPhone 4 - Adds Mac mini (Mid 2010) - Adds Mac mini Server (Mid 2010) - Adds performance scores for iPhone from Primate Labs Geekbench 2 - Other minor changes and additions

Using Mactracker, Mac owners can get information on the performance of the systems and gauge the real-world performance with scores courtesy of Primate Labs Geekbench 2. According to Page, results for the performance scores provided by Primate Labs Geekbench 2 through Mactracker reflect an average of the user submitted benchmarks for a particular device model.

Mactracker provides detailed information on every Apple Macintosh computer ever made, as well as other Apple products, such as the iPhone and iPod, and accessories / peripherals. The program offers information such as processor speed, memory, optical drives, graphics cards, supported Mac OS versions, and expansion options. For computers, information on Apple mice, keyboards and displays is included, as well as for printers, scanners, digital cameras, iPods, Apple TVs, iPhones, Wi-Fi Cards/Base Stations, Newton, and Mac OS versions.

The software also offers the ability to create customized categories. For example, users can select a specification item such as the processor type, date introduced or a color label. A search engine is available to browse the entire Mactracker database (including comments) and allows users to sort the results by model name, date, or specification.
