One would certainly hope so...

Taiwan PC distributors are saying that the new Mac Mini, iBook and iMac computers, the ones with Intel processors inside, have a launch date slated for June 6, 2006.

The official statement from Apple earlier this year was that the new 'Intel Inside' Macintosh computers would become available by June next year and that the transition of all Macs to Intel would be complete by the end of 2007.

Apple Taiwan did not comment on the report, stating that the launch schedule will be released according to the company's official statement.

Many are expecting the new 'Mactels' to come out earlier than Apple is letting on. And everybody is expecting the new Mini to be unveiled at the MacWorld early next year. While some believe that the transition will not be as smooth and seamless as people expect and will take longer, others point out to the fact that this is not something that Jobs decided to do when he woke up this morning, and has been planed by Apple for quite some time now.

We already know that the 'Intel' version of OS X works with all the limitations one would expect from a developer version (such as lack of drivers and various fringe functionality) on a regular PC, provided the processor and motherboard are of a compatible build and type. Apple is very unlikely to fail in delivering the Mactels, and loose out on the hype.

Without a doubt, Apple will be showing us something at MacWorld, and probably also give us further information... Not long until the 9th of January now.
