Actress and singer Mackenzie Phillips is now doing the media rounds to speak of her drug-addict father and their abusive relationship, one that left very deep scars that time can’t possibly erase. While doing an appearance on ABC’s Good Morning America, Mackenzie revealed a brand-new face that cost her an estimated $50,000 and stands as a symbol of a fresh start, Us Magazine writes.

“Mackenzie Phillips has dropped $50,000 on Botox, Restylane and laser treatments to her face, as well as 36 hours’ worth of extensive dental work and hair extensions. Why the new look? On ABC’s Good Morning America Wednesday, Phillips, 50, said that she wants her makeover to reflect her desire to reinvent her life from the inside out. ‘I’ve no desire to erase anything,’ she said. ‘I’m really happy’,” the publication writes.

As it has become common knowledge by now, Mackenzie made headlines around the world last year after going to the press with the story of how her father abused her when she was just 18. Members of her family later chastised her for her remarks but she insists a change for the better can only be operated if someone breaks the silence and puts everything into the open. As noted above, having work done to the face has nothing to do with covering up her past – and everything with showing that she’s now at peace with it.

Another celebrity to make headlines recently and openly talk about getting plastic surgery is MTV’s “The Hills” star Heidi Montag, who “unveiled” her new body and face on the cover of People magazine. Though she never spoke about how much the interventions cost her or how she came up with the money (given that she claims she invested all her money in her debut music album, “Superficial”), Montag has been very vocal about the type of procedures she underwent. In the aforementioned People piece, the star even says she’s addicted to plastic surgery, with subsequent interviews revealing she wasn’t going to stop here.

“For the past three years I’ve thought about what to have done. I am absolutely beyond obsessed. Every starlet is getting surgery every other day to keep their looks up. They just don’t talk about it. I wanted to be honest. I’m already planning my next surgery – I’m determined to get bigger ones [implants, Montag’s currently a DDD cup]!” Heidi was saying a while back, while insisting she had no intention of seeking help for her so-called addiction.
