Those looking to buy themselves a new Mac and save a few bucks can visit the Apple online store’s Special Deals section for a couple of attractive offers on portable Macs, as well as discounts on desktop systems.

The offers start with an $829 entry-level MacBook Air launched in October 2010.

Discounted by $170, it features a 1.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo CPU, an 11.6-inch LED-backlit glossy widescreen display, 2 gigs of memory, 64GB flash storage, NVIDIA GeForce 320M graphics, and a built-in FaceTime camera.

Next up is a refurbished MacBook - the unibody version of the plastic-encased notebook - clocked at 2.4GHz (Intel Core 2 Duo) and featuring a 13-inch display for $849 (save $150).

The white MacBook, once Apple’s most popular Mac, comes with 2GB (2 x 1GB) of 1066MHz DDR3 SDRAM, a 250GB Serial ATA @ 5400 rpm hard drive, the 8x double-layer SuperDrive (DVD±R DL/DVD±RW/CD-RW), NVIDIA GeForce 320M graphics with 256MB of DDR3 SDRAM shared with main memory, and built-in iSight.

For those looking to buy a cheap Mac OS-based server solution, the choice on a refurbished Mac mini with Snow Leopard Server couldn’t be easier.

It saves the buyer $150 for the following benefits: 2.66GHz Intel Core 2 Duo; 4GB memory; dual 500GB Serial ATA hard disk drives; HDMI port with support for up to 1920-by-1200 resolution; NVIDIA GeForce 320M with 256MB memory. The mini comes pre loaded with Snow Leopard Server.

Another discounted desktop Mac, this time consumer oriented, is the refurbished iMac 21.5-inch with a 3.06GHz Intel Core i3 processor.

Originally released July 2010, the all-in-one Mac boasts 21.5-inches of LED-backlit glossy widescreen display goodness, 4GB memory, a 500GB hard drive, the ever-present 8x SuperDrive, and ATI Radeon HD 4670 graphics with 256MB memory. The iMac also comes with a built-in iSight camera.
