14 DAY TRIAL // Apple has confirmed through the Support area of its website that buyers of its all-new Mac mini have a separate version of the Mac OS X 10.6.4 update to download and apply to their system. Besides including the general operating system fixes and improvements typical to all versions of the 10.6.4 update, the Mac mini version also includes specific fixes for the new desktop Mac.
Readers of Softpedia’s Mac section should already know that Apple has recently introduced a completely revamped version of its small desktop computer, the Mac mini. Although some would say the system is still priced a bit high, the base configuration offers impressive specs, while the computer’s sleek design can’t go unmentioned either. The Mac OS X 10.6.4 Update is recommended for all users of Mac mini (Mid 2010). This update contains all the applicable fixes from the Mac OS X 10.6.4 Update, plus the following specific fixes for Mac mini (Mid 2010):
- Resolves compatibility and performance-related graphics issues. - Improves compatibility with large-format SDXC memory cards.
The same changes apply to the server version of the update, which comes pre-installed on Apple’s Mac mini with Snow Leopard Server. The company then directs customers to a knowledge base article containing the full changelog for Mac OS X 10.6.4. The changes listed there apply to all systems running Snow Leopard. The Mac OS X v10.6.4 Update for Mac mini (Mid 2010) also includes all the security fixes found in Apple’s Security Update 2010-004.
