The team at NeoOffice.org reports that the release of its latest patches was immediately followed by code testing on the most recent Mac OS X 10.7 Lion release available from Apple, namely Preview 1 of the software.

“While NeoOffice 3.2 Beta installs and runs on Lion, we have made some changes to the NeoOffice code that should make NeoOffice run smoother on Lion,” the team writes on the Trinity forums.

The team has released these Lion changes in NeoOffice 3.2 Beta Patch 2, while backporting some of them in NeoOffice 3.1.2 Patch 7, to ensure that NeoOffice users have the most stable code available, according to the post signed Patrick, Fran, Ed, and Tim - The NeoOffice Team.

While NeoOffice 3.2 Beta Patch 2 can only be downloaded by generous donors, NeoOffice 3.1.2 Patch 7 can be downloaded by all users.

Both releases include two major changes, according to the development team.

They reveal that a Lion-specific bug where dragging the left edge would sometimes cause the window shape to "snap back" after dragging has been fixed.

This was caused by Lion’s ability to resize windows by dragging on any part of the window's edge

“Both of these patches eliminate this snapping back behavior,” according to the devs.

The second tweak has to do with windows with titlebars that now have rounded bottom corners on OS X Lion.

NeoOffice, however, would display these with squared corners - a problem now fixed in NeoOffice 3.2 Beta Patch 2 “by displaying all non-floating windows with titlebars with rounded bottom corners when running NeoOffice on Lion.”

As usual, NeoOffice users who may need some support questions answered can visit the NeoOffice Support page, where a list of suggested steps for finding an answer for a problem is provided.

The team also notes that it can only provide support to the most generous of donors in the NeoOffice forums, since over half of their resources come from a very small percentage of users.
