14 DAY TRIAL // Apple this weekend seeded a new beta of OS X Lion to those enrolled with its annual developer program, asking the code savvy bunch to focus their attention on the most fundamental parts of the operating system, including two new core components previously not mentioned in the seed notes.
Developers are reporting that Cupertino has rolled out OS X 10.7.3 Build 11D24 onto the Mac Dev Center with instructions to add Spotlight and Safari to their priority lists.
The 800 MB update (1.2GB as Combo) comes after Apple’s first release of 10.7.3 roughly two weeks ago, and also brings a number of bug fixes to the table.
According to the seed notes, “OS X Lion Update 10.7.3 is an update to OS X Lion 10.7.”
The company headquartered at 1 Infinite Loop, Cupertino, California lays out the usual installation instructions and documentation including known issues, focus areas, and bug fixes.
There are no known issues with the build, according to those privy of the new beta. In addition to Spotlight and Safari, focus areas also include iCloud document storage, AddressBook, iCal, and Mail.
Should testers stumble upon any problems, they are required to submit a bug report using the online Bug Reporter located at http://bugreporter.apple.com.
“Please make sure to include ‘10.7.3 (11D24)’ in the bug title and description. This information will ensure that your bug is processed quickly,” says Apple.
As usual, it is nearly impossible to pinpoint the exact release date of OS X 10.7.3 final for end users.
Apple may be a seed away from the public launch, or it may take several internal beta releases to iron out all the bugs. For now, however, it appears that the development of OS X 10.7.3 is on a smooth course.
