Leaked notes reveal no fixed bugs, one known issue, and few focus areas for the first 10.6.4 test build

As soon as Mac OS X 10.6.4 was confirmed as having been seeded to developers yesterday, the original seed notes were leaked as well. As usual, World of Apple is the source, with the site touting Apple’s move as predictable. It confirms more than iPhone in Canada could yesterday, in that Mac OS X 10.6.4 build 10F37 is a 528MB delta update with just four focus areas, one known issue and no fixes whatsoever.

Softpedia reported yesterday that Apple’s seeding of OS X 10.6.4 followed a World of Apple post informing the Apple fan base that, “A select group of Snow Leopard beta testers have been notified of a new seed program beginning, usually a sign that a fresh build of software will follow within seven days.” Yesterday, iPhone in Canada claimed to have received word of this actual seeding taking place, citing unnamed sources. The site claimed that, “As originally reported, Apple has began to seed the new version of Snow Leopard, 10.6.4.”

Now, World of Apple follows with the actual seed notes (the shortest we’ve seen so far) in usual manner for the website focused entirely on matters tied to Cupertino. The notes have been reproduced below in their entirety.

Focus Areas: - Graphics Drivers; - SMB; - USB; - Voice Over.”

While we didn’t expect any fixes to be listed in the seed notes, since this is the first 10.6.4 build of many to come, we did assume the list of focus areas would span more than just Graphics Drivers, SMB, USB and Voice Over. Of course, these are simply the areas where the first issues have been encountered with Mac OS X 10.6.3, while Apple likely has a priority list on its desk as well, which may include OS X 10.7. However, after taking a first look at these seed notes, one could conclude that Mac OS X 10.6.4 is not on track for a long development cycle. Only time will tell, though.
